Wesco Anixter has been awarded a three-year contract from Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) for the British Army’s new Boxer vehicles.

The contract will see Wesco Anixter implement a managed supply solution for both direct parts such as fasteners, fixings and welding wire, along with indirect production consumables at RBSL’s site in Telford.

Wesco Anixter is a global supply chain solutions organisation with its UK headquarters in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The company has a wealth of experience in supporting build and maintenance programmes within the defence sector. It currently employs more than 500 people across the UK and 18,000 globally.

The contract will support growth, enabling Wesco Anixter to employ an additional staff member who will work alongside the company’s Strategic Account Manager and in collaboration with RBSL to drive continuous improvement and process efficiencies. Three additional roles have also been sustained as a result of the contract award.

“Following two years of collaboration ahead of the build programme starting, we are delighted to have secured an initial three-year contract to supply critical components to the Boxer MIV programme. We are looking forward to working with RBSL which is playing a key part in delivering the Land Industrial Strategy on this pivotal programme for the British Army,” said Danielle Preston, Contract Director – Defence at Wesco Anixter.
