The Supervisory Board has appointed Dr Alexander Sagel, currently Chief Operating Officer (COO), as her successor. Dr Sagel will assume the position of Chairman of the Executive Board on 1 February 2025, ensuring continuity in the company’s strategic leadership.

Susanne Wiegand has served in senior roles across the defence industry for 18 years, including her tenure as Chairwoman at RENK since May 2021. She cites personal reasons for stepping down and intends to explore new opportunities within the broader security and defence fields. “RENK has made remarkable progress in recent years, transitioning from a corporate subsidiary to a publicly listed company,” Wiegand commented, expressing gratitude to employees and confidence in the company’s future.
During her leadership, RENK achieved significant milestones, including doubling revenue, quadrupling operating profits, and completing a successful IPO in February 2024. Claus von Hermann, Chairman of RENK’s Supervisory Board, commended Wiegand’s achievements, stating: “The Supervisory Board is deeply grateful for her exceptional contributions. At the same time, we are pleased to appoint Dr Alexander Sagel as an outstanding successor with extensive industry expertise.”
Dr Sagel, who joined RENK Group as COO in April 2024, brings a wealth of experience from his prior leadership roles at Rheinmetall AG. Holding advanced qualifications in materials science and solid-state physics, he has expressed his enthusiasm for the new role. “Under Susanne Wiegand’s leadership, RENK Group has embarked on an extraordinary growth trajectory. In the next phase, we will build on this success, advancing operations and technology for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
Wiegand will remain with the company in an advisory capacity following her departure, ensuring a smooth transition. Dr Sagel’s appointment marks a commitment to maintaining RENK’s strategic direction and fostering sustainable growth in the defence and energy sectors.
