Royal Air Force conducts winter testing of Eurofighter Typhoon in Finland

By Defence Industry Europe

The Royal Air Force (RAF) is conducting winter testing of its Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets in Finland. The testing, supported by the Finnish Air Force, will take place until March 2025.

Three Typhoon fighter jets arrived in Finland during the fourth week of January. The aircraft will undergo test flights and winter trials at Tikkakoski Air Base in Jyväskylä and Halli Air Base in Jämsä until mid-March.

The Finnish Air Force is providing host nation support by offering base services for the RAF’s “Snowrider Winter Trial” event. The RAF has also brought its own maintenance and security personnel, along with the necessary equipment for winter testing.

Approximately 100 military and civilian personnel from the United Kingdom are participating in the testing. The aim is to assess the Typhoon’s performance and operational capabilities in winter conditions.
