According to Spanish Minsitry of Defence, Spike LR2 missiles will be operated by army and navy.
The procurement contract is valued at EUR 285 million and encompasses the supply of 1,680 Spike LR2 anti-tank missiles, along with 168 launchers.
The production of these cutting-edge missiles will be undertaken by a consortium of Spanish defense industry companies specially established for this purpose. The consortium includes Escribano, Tecnobit, FMG, Expal, and Pap Tecnos. Leading this consortium is Pap Tecnos, a subsidiary of the Israeli defense giant Rafael, renowned for its expertise in developing the Spike family of anti-tank missiles.
Notably, this contract will contribute to the creation of approximately 1,100 jobs in Spain, a welcome economic boost for the nation, as announced by the Spanish government.
