Sweden’s armed forces have received an undisclosed number of KEPD 350 Taurus air-launched cruise missiles from German military stocks, Swedish business daily Dagens Industri reported, citing Sweden’s defence procurement agency, FMV, on the origin of the weapons.

The missiles appear to have been supplied for testing and integration with Sweden’s Gripen fighters.

A test disclosed in August showed a Swedish Air Force Gripen C firing a combat version of the Taurus.

Sweden plans to give its Gripen C and D fighters the ability to fire the Taurus through the MS20 Block 4 upgrade, which is expected to be ready in 2028.

Sweden also intends to equip its newer Gripen E fighters to carry cruise missiles as it pursues the Taurus Neo variant now in development.

Germany acquired 600 Taurus missiles before production stopped in 2020, and previous reports have raised questions about the condition of missiles in its stockpile.
