According to a report by the Swedish Armed Forces, the Ukrainian trainees, who have a relatively high average age, display great determination and proficiency, particularly in mechanical skills. While they may be less familiar with advanced technology, they quickly adapt and show a strong eagerness to learn and excel, even when tired after long hours of hard work, as revealed by one of the Swedish instructors.
On January 19, the Swedish government announced an extensive support package for Ukraine, which included the Archer artillery system from BAE Bofors and the Stridsfordon 90 from BAE Hägglunds. The donated vehicles are of the Stridsfordon 9040C variant, featuring enhanced protection and identical to the version used by Sweden in Afghanistan and Liberia.
Today, the Swedish Armed Forces have announced the departure of the Ukrainian soldiers from Sweden. According to the report, the training pace has been intense, with long days of instruction. The Ukrainian soldiers range in combat experience, from recent mobilization to those who enlisted the day after Russia’s full-scale attack last year.
