The new generation of the Tatra Force series for military use

At Eurosatory 2024 trade fair, Tatra Trucks presented the latest 3rd generation of the Tatra Force model series for the armed forces in a world premiere.

Rheinmetall has been given the largest order in the company`s history concerning logistic vehicles by the Bundeswehr. The framework-contract was now signed in Koblenz and incorporates the delivery of up to 6,500 military trucks, valued up to EUR 3.5 billion.

At this year’s Eurosatory Volvo Defense is showcasing how equipment from Volvo Trucks, Volvo Penta, and Volvo Construction Equipment can offer customers the highest level of flexibility and security of supply.

Rheinmetall has been commissioned by the Bundeswehr with a further delivery of 1,515 logistic vehicles, 265 of which are protected swap-body systems. This is another call-off from the framework contract for swap-body systems (WLS) signed in June 2020. This large-scale call-off is largely financed by the Bundeswehr's special fund. In addition to the vehicles, the Bundeswehr’s procurement agency, BAAINBw, ordered 500 swap-body platforms to serve as interchangeable load carriers and 500 tarpaulin / roof bow setups. The call-off is worth over €920m gross. Delivery of the vehicles will take place in the second half of 2024 and will be completed by mid-November 2024.

Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks is expanding its product range and will in future be offering the Zetros truck series with a protected driver's cab ex works. The three-axle, all-wheel-drive Zetros (6x6) is now available as a armored vehicle. Other vehicle variants of the Zetros series from the two-axle 4x4 to the four-axle 8x8 will be successively produced with protection at the Wörth truck plant from 2025. A Zetros 6x6 with a protected cab from Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks will be on display for the first time at the Eurosatory trade fair in Paris from June 17 to 21, 2024.

Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks is expanding its product range and will in future be offering the Zetros truck series with a protected driver’s cab ex works.

Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks will be offering the Zetros off-road truck with four axles and all-wheel drive (8x8) in two variants from 2025 onwards. The Zetros will then be available in various configurations from a two-axle to a four-axle model. The Zetros 8x8, which Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks will be exhibiting at Eurosatory, is the result of a major order from the Canadian Ministry of Defence, under which more than 1500 Zetros vehicles will be delivered over the next few years. Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks will also be presenting a Zetros with a protected cab at Eurosatory. From now on, the vehicle with a protected cab can be delivered directly from the Wörth plant. Further, Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks will be able to offer the entire product range of the high-terrain Zetros from 4x4 to 8x8 with and without a protected cab from a single source. Visitors to stand D127 (EXTPe6b Outdoor) will also find other vehicles for military use: a Unimog U5000 with a flatbed and tarpaulin as a troop transporter, an Arocs 6x6 with a double winch as an armored tractor unit, a Zetros 4x4 and the variable FGA chassis as a tactical chassis for armored personnel carriers (APC).

Rheinmetall has been contracted by the Swedish company BAE Systems Bofors AB to deliver 48 all-terrain HX Cab Chassis with protected cabins. The highly mobile 8x8 military vehicles from Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) will serve as carriers for the Swedish Armed Forces' Archer artillery systems. The contract, which was concluded in March 2024, has a volume of around €71 million. Deliveries are foreseen to start in the third quarter of 2024 and to be completed by the end of 2027.

American Rheinmetall Vehicles and GM Defense LLC have successfully delivered 3 prototype trucks for the first phase of the U.S. Army’s Common Tactical Truck (CTT) Program. The aim of the multiphased program is to replace the Army’s family of heavy tactical trucks, with production of up to 40,000 trucks valued at up to $14 billion. The two powerhouse defense companies formed a strategic collaboration in 2022 to compete in the program; bringing together two world-class engineering and manufacturing giants to deliver a modern, tactical truck that focuses on Soldier safety and protection while enhancing capability through advanced technologies including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), increased off-road mobility, cybersecurity hardening, superior survivability, autonomy readiness, and improved fuel efficiency among other critical emerging technologies. These capabilities, currently on most commercial vehicles, help reduce military vehicle accidents and lower the number of Soldiers exposed to dangerous convoy operations.

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles UK (RMMV UK) have been awarded a £282 million contract to deliver 500 HX 8×8 Palletised Load System (PLS) trucks to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Under a GBP 282 million contract, Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) will deliver 500 multipurpose trucks to the British Army. A corresponding enlargement of the existing framework agreement with Bundesbeschaffung GmbH (BGG) of Vienna, the Austrian procurement organization, envisages delivery of up to 300 trucks, primarily from the HX family of vehicles. The expanded contract for the newly won lot runs for 48 months and offers the possibility of flexible call-offs of vehicles with an aggregate value of over €300 million.
