The tests, directed by the Army Development Office, involved the Bundeswehr’s equipment offices, as well as Dutch and French Armed Forces. These radios, designed for secure, encrypted communication, met the stringent requirements of electronic counter-countermeasure (ECCM) capabilities, ensuring reliable command and control in multinational operations.
Thales radios passed the tests with ease, enabling quick operational readiness with minimal training, and showed strong network stability and range.
“During the four-week operational test, Thales PR4G and SYNAPS-H radios met the requirements so effectively that the system is deemed suitable for introduction into the German Armed Forces.. We are very pleased that there are no more obstacles for the operational use of the radios in Lithuania, where the deployed forces will have protected, modern radios,” said Christoph Ruffner, CEO and Country Director, Thales Deutschland.
NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence aims to bolster its defensive capabilities on Europe’s eastern borders, with battlegroups stationed in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.
