Tiberius Aerospace launches Sceptre: new 155mm ramjet munition with 150km range

By Defence Industry Europe

Tiberius Aerospace has officially launched its flagship weapons programme, Sceptre (TRBM 155HG), a groundbreaking liquid-fuelled, 155mm ramjet extended-range precision-guided artillery munition. The public announcement coincides with the Future Artillery conference being held in London from 20 to 22 May 2025.

Tiberius Aerospace, established in 2022, was founded to address the evolving landscape of modern conflict, focusing on speed, adaptability, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain resilience. The company’s leadership, with roots in Silicon Valley, leverages cross-sector engineering expertise to create innovative, modular, and compliant weapon systems.

The Sceptre munition represents a significant advancement in artillery technology, achieving speeds of Mach 3.5 and reaching altitudes exceeding 65,000 feet, placing it beyond typical jamming ranges. It has an extended range of up to 150 kilometres, depending on payload, with a maximum of 5.2 kilograms, and delivers unparalleled precision with a circular error probability of less than five metres, even in GPS-contested environments.

Designed to integrate seamlessly with NATO standard 155mm artillery platforms, Sceptre minimises barrel degradation through its ignition system and limited barrel contact points. Additionally, it employs a multi-fuel liquid propellant system, using diesel, JP-4, and JP-8, to enhance operational safety and extend shelf life beyond 20 years.

Tiberius Aerospace emphasises the cost-efficiency of the Sceptre, incorporating a modular and open architecture that allows for ongoing software and hardware updates. The guidance system features a user-friendly interface for target selection, with an open API to facilitate integration with third-party fire control platforms. The onboard AI-driven navigation system synchronises GPS and inertial measurements to maintain accuracy, even in degraded or GPS-denied settings.

Chad Steelberg, Founder and CEO of Tiberius Aerospace, stated: “Our mission is to deliver next-generation weapon systems of outstanding capability with precision, scale and efficiency. The public launch of Sceptre today, the first of our Ramjet munitions, meets this goal and fills a critical capability gap by delivering long-range precision-guided effects in a high-quality cost-effective package.”

The Sceptre’s advanced communication capabilities enable in-flight munitions to coordinate for improved targeting accuracy. By employing a cost-down procurement model, Tiberius aims to strengthen supply chain security and enhance overall cost efficiency.

Tiberius Aerospace’s introduction of the Sceptre signals a strategic leap in defence technology, reinforcing the UK, US, and allied forces with a state-of-the-art artillery solution that merges precision, range, and resilience.
