Ukraine has held talks with leading defence manufacturers to advance its air defence capabilities, focusing on expanding supply and cooperation. The discussions took place in Berlin between Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov and representatives of Raytheon and Diehl Defence.

During a meeting with Pete Bata, Senior Vice President of Raytheon, the parties reviewed ways to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence systems. Talks covered the supply of missiles for Patriot systems, F-16 aircraft, and NASAMS systems.

Fedorov thanked the company for the solutions it has provided, particularly the Patriot systems, which have already protected and continue to protect the lives of Ukrainians. The sides also examined measures to increase capabilities for intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.

The discussions included implementation of agreements reached during earlier meetings in Germany. Both parties also explored prospects for rapidly scaling up supplies of modern air defence systems and addressed maintenance and repair of Raytheon equipment already in use in Ukraine.

In a separate meeting, Fedorov held talks with Helmut Rauch, Chief Executive Officer of Diehl Defence. The focus was on supplying missiles for IRIS-T systems and identifying options to accelerate and scale up deliveries.

Fedorov thanked the company for the solutions it has provided and for the equipment already in service with Ukraine, which has proven its effectiveness in combat conditions. The talks also addressed preparations for the upcoming winter period and the need to further strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s skies.

The parties reviewed the status of projects related to missile armament for F-16 aircraft. They also discussed opportunities to test new solutions in Ukraine.

Further discussions covered the supply of extended-range ammunition, with a European Union loan identified as one of the possible funding sources. In addition, both sides explored joint projects in radar systems, counter-ballistic solutions, and the integration of Diehl Defence products with systems from other partners.
