WB Group to deliver more FlyEye reconnaissance drones to Polish Armed Forces

By Defence Industry Europe

On April 19, the Polish defence procurement agency (Armament Agency) signed a contract with WB Electronics, a leading company of the WB Group, for the purchase of FlyEye reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The contract is valued at nearly EUR 13.5 million (PLN 57.6 million). Under this agreement, WB Electronics will supply a total of seven FlyEye drone systems to the Polish Armed Forces. Each system comprises four reconnaissance drones and one ground control station. The Armament Agency announced that WB Electronics will deliver all the ordered FlyEye drones to the Polish Armed Forces by the end of 2024. The drones will be operated by the Territorial Defence Forces, the Armament Agency stated.

This agreement was executed under the terms of the framework agreement signed by the Polish defence procurement agency and WB Electronics in September 2023, during the MSPO international defence industry exhibition. This framework agreement stipulates the terms for the future procurement of a total of 400 FlyEye systems.

The mini-class FlyEye UAVs are designed for conducting image reconnaissance from the air using optoelectronic heads equipped with cameras that enable image registration in both daylight and through the use of thermal imaging. The system has been successfully tested in the Polish Military, where it serves both the Operational Forces and the Territorial Defence Forces, and has also been deployed during wartime operations in Ukraine, the Polish Armament Agency reported.
