X-FRONTER: individual reconnaissance-attack drone from WB Group

By Defence Industry Europe

During the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce, Poland, WB Group will showcase a range of new unmanned systems and combat solutions designed for both land and air applications, as well as advanced radio communication technologies. One of the highlights of WB Group's showcase will be the X-FRONTER, an individual reconnaissance-attack drone designed to enhance situational awareness for soldiers and law enforcement officers.

Compact and highly portable, the X-FRONTER can be easily carried and deployed from a tactical vest, making it ready for immediate use. This modular system, featuring a central unit with foldable rotors, sensors, and interchangeable mission modules, offers a versatile solution for a range of operational needs.

Designed to be a personal, multi-mission unmanned aerial system, the X-FRONTER extends the user’s situational awareness, providing safe observation capabilities in rapidly changing environments, such as battlefields or other high-risk areas. Its lightweight design ensures ease of transport, and it can be integrated with other WB Group systems, such as the AMSTA perimeter protection system, or mounted on both manned and unmanned vehicles.

The X-FRONTER can be launched by hand or from a launcher, the latter allowing simultaneous deployment of multiple drones. This quick launch capability provides users with near-instant information about their surroundings. The system’s basic reconnaissance module includes a camera head equipped with both daytime and thermal imaging capabilities. Additional modules include a combat module with an explosive payload and a marker module containing flares, smoke charges, or infrared markers.

Designed for swarm operations, the X-FRONTER is equipped with automatic separation algorithms and obstacle recognition, allowing multiple drones with different mission modules to perform complementary roles. In a swarm, one X-FRONTER may act as the leader with observational capabilities, coordinating attacks by other drones equipped with combat modules.

The X-FRONTER can be manually controlled or programmed to follow a predetermined route, enabling continuous patrol missions over military installations or critical infrastructure areas. When integrated with the AMSTA system, it can autonomously launch to investigate detected anomalies or identify intruders. Equipping personnel with X-FRONTER drones significantly enhances their situational awareness, expediting threat response processes.
