Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) has introduced its new TGS-Mil Protected armoured truck at the inaugural RMMV Mobility Days in Vienna. Built on the TG-generation of military trucks manufactured at the Vienna facility, the model features a protected cabin for two occupants and adheres to current NATO standards.

The new vehicle is available in 6×6 and 8×8 variants and has been developed with a modular design to support a wide range of mission profiles. These include configurable protection levels, communications systems, and specialised payload options, offering adaptability for diverse operational needs.

“With the TGS-Mil Protected, RMMV can now offer both protected and unprotected variants within the same modular system,” the company stated, highlighting benefits such as “flexibility, fleet harmonisation and reduced life-cycle costs for new and already existing customers alike.” This reflects RMMV’s strategic intent to align its militarised truck portfolio with evolving mission demands and geopolitical shifts.

Powered by a MAN D2676 six-cylinder diesel engine delivering up to 382 kW (520 hp) and 2,650 Nm of torque, the vehicle meets Euro II, V and VIe standards and is compatible with NATO fuel F34. Utilising proven components from the civilian sector, the truck also ensures ease of maintenance and robust global service support, with all-wheel drive for enhanced off-road performance.

RMMV Mobility Days 2025, held under the motto “Innovation in Motion,” attracted around 120 participants from 22 countries. Attendees received detailed insights into current RMMV products, including factory tours at the Vienna-Liesing site, recently upgraded with a modern logistics system and digitised manufacturing.

The upgraded facility is now capable of producing approximately 4,000 HX and TG vehicles annually to meet increasing global demand. Participants also witnessed demonstrations of the off-road capabilities of the HX and TG vehicle families and gained exposure to future technologies such as tele-operated and autonomous mobility.

RMMV serves as the competence centre for military logistics vehicles within Rheinmetall’s Vehicle Systems Division. The Munich-based joint venture is majority-owned by Rheinmetall AG (51 per cent), with MAN Truck & Bus SE holding 49 per cent, and draws on more than a century of experience in manufacturing military-grade trucks.
