The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin a $9.8 billion contract for the production of 1,970 Patriot Advanced Capability – 3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) interceptors and associated hardware. The deal represents the largest contract in the history of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, underscoring continued demand for the system.

“PAC-3 MSE’s recent combat performance solidified it as a must-have capability for America and its allies around the world,” said Jason Reynolds, vice president and general manager of Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Lockheed Martin. “With this contract, we’ll be delivering record numbers of PAC-3 MSE for years to come, ensuring our customers have the advanced missile defense solutions they need to defend what matters most.”

Lockheed Martin confirmed it is ramping up production to meet rising demand, with deliveries of more than 600 interceptors planned in 2025 for the first time. This milestone follows the company’s early internal investment to increase output almost two years before the contract award.

The PAC-3 MSE interceptor defends against threats through direct body-to-body contact, generating significantly more kinetic energy on impact than blast fragmentation mechanisms. The system has proven combat effectiveness against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, hypersonic threats and airborne targets, and has been adopted by 17 partner nations including the U.S.

As global security challenges evolve, Lockheed Martin said it remains committed to providing proven and ready defence solutions to the U.S. government and its allies.
