Saab has received an order worth about 2.1 billion Swedish kronor from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration for sensors and command and control systems for a brigade-level ground-based air defence solution. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027 and 2028.

The systems build on previous FMV procurements designed to strengthen Sweden’s ground-based air defence. Alongside the LSS Lv command and control system and the Giraffe 1X radar, the order includes weapon system integration, studies and spare parts to provide a highly mobile short-range air defence capability.

The contract also covers an integration study to complement the brigade solution with the Giraffe AMB radar for medium-range surveillance. Saab said the upgraded package is intended to enhance both situational awareness and engagement effectiveness.

“We are very proud to contribute to a strengthened ground-based air defence capability for the Swedish brigades. The contract gives an increased capability to control the battle, but also to detect and engage airborne threats through world-class command-and-control and sensor systems,” said Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.

Saab’s LSS Lv command and control system provides software for directing engagements against air targets, distributing target data and supporting planning and evaluation of ground-based air defence operations.
