The company said the new kits extend the operational role of the Black Hawk into additional mission sets while maintaining a common airframe. This approach is aimed at providing greater flexibility for commanders and reducing the need for separate aircraft fleets.
“The new Armed Black Hawk kits give warfighters one aircraft that can do it all: a single, versatile, combat-proven platform where ground units can quickly switch out the commercially-produced kits, keeping mission readiness high,” said Rich Benton. “Offering these upgraded kits is another example of our commitment to delivering 21st Century Security solutions that deliver unmatched performance, lifecycle savings and gives soldiers the reliable, interoperable capability they need to win today and tomorrow.”
Sikorsky said the kits allow operators to configure aircraft for close support or precision strike missions using production-ready systems. The modular design enables rapid reconfiguration, allowing mission changes in approximately three hours.
The company said the solution is intended to reduce acquisition and sustainment costs by consolidating multiple mission roles into a single fleet. It also highlighted lifecycle savings supported by an established supply chain and long-term operational outlook for the Black Hawk platform.
The kits are available through Foreign Military Sales or Direct Commercial Sales channels. Installation can be carried out in the United States or by PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company, in Poland.
Sikorsky said the development builds on experience supporting armed Black Hawk fleets in the Middle East. The company added that ongoing upgrades to the platform include improved engines, digital architecture and autonomy systems to enhance operational performance and safety.
