Germany’s ARX Robotics and Ukraine’s Roboneers have agreed to expand technical integration and joint development of unmanned ground systems. The partnership builds on their existing deliveries to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an earlier agreement to establish production in Ukraine and Germany.

The companies signed the agreement in Kyiv in the presence of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In June 2026, they agreed to establish ARX Industries, a joint venture for serial production of the Rys Pro unmanned ground vehicle.

The latest agreement comes as Ukraine seeks large numbers of unmanned ground systems for its forces. According to the release, the Ukrainian government estimates demand at 50,000 units in 2026.

“Software-defined unmanned defense solutions are key for landforces on a modern battlefield where every action can be seen by the enemy,” said Marc Wietfeld, chief executive of ARX Robotics. “Together with Roboneers we provide the Ukrainian forces with a robust but smart UGV fleet at scale and at the same time ensure that the lessons learnt from the battlefield are incorporated into the landsystems development of other western armies.”

ARX Robotics says its Gereon ground drones form the largest Western-built unmanned ground vehicle fleet deployed in Ukraine. The company also cited cooperation with German industrial partners, including Deutz, as evidence of its ability to scale manufacturing and produce large quantities of ground drones quickly.

Founded in 2022, ARX Robotics develops unmanned land vehicles and software for land autonomy. Its artificial intelligence-powered operating system, Mithra OS, is designed to digitally transform existing platforms.

The company’s systems are deployed with several European armed forces. ARX Robotics employs 300 people across Munich, Berlin, London and Kyiv.
