BAE Systems receives order for M109A7 howitzers for US Army

By Defence Industry Europe

On February 14, the US Department of Defense announced that BAE Systems has received an order for an undisclosed number of M109A7 Paladin 155mm self-propelled howitzer and M99A3 Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicles.

The contract value is USD 466,4 million. Deliveries of ordered 155mm self-propelled howitzers and vehicles will be completed by end of 2026.

Work for the contract will be performed in Pennsylvania, Michigan, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Alabama.

According to BAE Systems, The M109A7 is the latest 155m howitzer in the BAE Systems M109 family of vehicles, the primary indirect fire support system for the ABCTs. It uses the existing main armament and cab structure of an M109A6 and replaces the vehicle’s chassis components with modem components common to the Bradley vehicle. The improved chassis structure provides greater survivability and commonality with the existing systems in the ABCT, reducing operational sustainability costs by replacing obsolete components.
