The framework agreement enables Denmark and Sweden to enhance their military capabilities by acquiring CV9035MkIIIC infantry fighting vehicles. Denmark will procure 115 of these advanced vehicles, while Sweden has agreed to purchase 50. The deal also includes vehicles financed by both nations for Ukraine, further expanding the agreement’s scope.
“The infantry fighting vehicle is an essential component of the heavy brigade we are currently building,” remarked Major General Peter Boysen, Chief of the Royal Danish Army. He highlighted the substantial contribution these vehicles will make to Denmark’s collective security and international operations, bringing their total fleet to 159 vehicles.
The CV9035MkIIIC, built to the latest specifications, incorporates significant advancements in mobility, protection, and firepower. The vehicles will feature the updated CV90 turret, designed to provide superior situational awareness and functionality for crews. Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds, emphasised the platform’s benefits: “These new CV9035MkIIICs will extend the capabilities of the armed forces of Sweden and Denmark.”
The CV90 family, developed by BAE Systems Hägglunds, has proven its value in various combat and peacekeeping operations worldwide, including Afghanistan and Ukraine. With over 1,900 units in service across 10 nations—eight of which are NATO members—the platform has demonstrated interoperability and reliability in diverse conditions.
