The agreement is worth more than £240 million and will be delivered in the United Kingdom. It is intended to support operational readiness across two Boeing-built military aircraft fleets.
For the P-8A Poseidon, Boeing will provide services until the end of March 2028. The ministry did not disclose the end date for E-7A Wedgetail support.
Boeing’s work will include personnel training and technical-logistics support. The contract covers services needed to sustain aircraft operations and fleet availability.
The Royal Air Force currently operates nine P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The U.K. is also awaiting delivery of three E-7A Wedgetail aircraft.
All aircraft from both fleets are due to be based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. The base has received a logistics and training support center for the P-8A and E-7A fleets.
The aircraft share a common Boeing commercial heritage. Both the P-8A Poseidon and E-7A Wedgetail are militarized variants of the 737NG family.
The Ministry of Defence said the contract will help maintain high operational readiness. It also said the agreement will support more than 380 highly skilled technical jobs.
The Lossiemouth support hub could also become relevant for other European users. The European customer base for the P-8A Poseidon continues to expand.
Norway already operates the P-8A, while Germany is introducing the aircraft. Denmark is also expected to sign a contract for the type in the near future.
The agreement gives Boeing Defence UK a larger role in sustaining RAF surveillance and command aircraft. It also strengthens Lossiemouth’s position as a long-term support center for Boeing 737NG-based military platforms in Europe.
