Boeing has signed a multiyear framework agreement with the U.S. Department of War for AH-64 Apache technical and engineering support, with a ceiling of $500 million. No funding was committed at signing, and work will be funded through individual orders.

The department announced the agreement on October 27, with orders allowed through the end of February 2031. Boeing’s services will include engineering support for further development of the AH-64E.

The company is working toward certification of the Apache’s Version 6.5 configuration. That work is intended to enable later modifications under the U.S. military’s long-term plans for the helicopter.

More than 1,000 Apaches are operating worldwide, with the AH-64E making up most of the fleet. The helicopter has been delivered to 17 countries outside the United States.

Poland is set to become the 18th export operator and currently uses eight AH-64Ds leased from the U.S. government to train pilots and personnel. At least two more leased helicopters are expected to join them.
