Boeing Defence Australia will lead integration work for a major initiative to improve the Australian Defence Force’s secure communications, operational planning and battlefield decision-making. The company has been appointed systems integrator for the LAND 4140 Battle Management System.

As systems integrator, Boeing Defence Australia will coordinate the consolidation of software applications, services and stakeholders. The work is intended to deliver a unified, mission-critical command-and-control capability for the Australian Army.

“For more than a decade we’ve delivered Battlespace Communications Systems and multi-domain network capabilities for Defence including the Integrated Battlefield Telecommunications Network (IBTN), SEA 1442 and as a subcontractor for AIR 6500,” said Matt Buckle, Boeing Defence Australia’s director of Joint Systems.

“This latest contract contributes further to our commitment to supporting the delivery of integrated communications and C4 capabilities for Defence across land, sea and air,” Buckle said.

The Battle Management System capability is part of the broader LAND 4140 programme. The programme aims to modernise land command, control, communications and computers systems.

The system brings together command and control, situational awareness, geospatial, navigation and targeting information. Boeing said the capability is intended to advance tactical warfighting applications.

The contract became effective on March 6, 2026. Its operative date is scheduled for September 2026, with an initial term of five years.
