The value of the contract is approximately EUR 1.5 billion, making it the largest contract for Carl-Gustaf systems in the history of the Swedish defence company. Deliveries are scheduled for 2024-2027.
The signing of the agreement took place during a visit to Poland by the Swedish Minister of Defence, Pal Jonson, in the presence of the Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The Carl-Gustaf M4 represents the latest version of the renowned Swedish grenade launcher family. The weapon is designed for combat against a wide range of modern armoured vehicles, including heavy tanks. It also allows for the destruction of enemy personnel and field fortifications, as well as providing illumination and smoke cover on the battlefield.
The purchased package also includes FCD 558 sights, designed for use with programmable ammunition, and several types of ammunition – from anti-tank to fragmentation-anti-tank, multi-purpose, smoke, illuminating, training, and practice rounds.
The logistics package being purchased includes sets of spare parts and specialised tools. The training package, meanwhile, includes the delivery of simulators, training in the use of grenade launchers, servicing, handling and repair of grenade launchers, and the use of ammunition.
As a result, the Polish Armed Forceswill receive a large number of very modern grenade launchers, allowing for the complete phase-out of the outdated and worn-out Soviet-designed RPG-7s from their arsenal.
