Danish company MyDefence expands U.S. presence with new R&D office in Oklahoma

By Defence Industry Europe

Danish firm MyDefence, a leader in counter-drone technology, has opened a new research and development (R&D) office in Oklahoma. This move strengthens Oklahoma’s growing reputation as a hub for defence innovation, particularly in counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).

The opening of the office, in collaboration with the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce and the Department for Aerospace and Defense, aligns with MyDefence’s aim to address national security challenges and protect critical infrastructure. The new location will also provide access to U.S. Department of Defense projects, enhancing the company’s involvement in defence solutions.

Oklahoma has rapidly become a centre for C-UAS excellence, bringing together academic, industrial, and federal resources to foster technological advancements. MyDefence will now play an active role in this ecosystem, helping develop and refine technologies to counter drone threats.

MyDefence already holds a strong position in the global C-UAS market, offering wearable and integrated solutions designed to protect people, vehicles, and critical assets from drone attacks. Earlier this year, the company’s products were selected as part of a procurement agreement with NATO, further boosting its credibility.

The new R&D office in Oklahoma will facilitate MyDefence’s expansion in the U.S., benefiting from the state’s expertise in counter-drone technology. Jan Dorn Johansson, CTO at MyDefence, emphasised the opportunities this move brings, noting the advantages of Oklahoma’s technological resources for the company’s mission.

The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures, including H.R.H. Prince Joachim, Danish Defence Industry Attaché in Washington D.C., and Denmark’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen. MyDefence plans to expand its workforce in the U.S. as part of its ongoing commitment to advancing counter-UAS technology.
