General Atomics AeroTec Systems will present the Do228 NXT demonstrator aircraft to the global public for the first time at ILA 2026 in Berlin. The company said the event marks a special milestone in the Do228 NXT programme.

ILA 2026 will take place from 10 to 14 June 2026 and will bring together manufacturers, customers and suppliers from the aircraft industry. The Do228 NXT demonstrator will be shown in the static display area throughout the event.

The aircraft recently completed its first successful flight and passed all necessary tests. It is now receiving a special livery that will be unveiled for the first time to customers and aviation visitors at ILA 2026.

Visitors will be able to see the aircraft up close in the Static Display area H4/100. General Atomics AeroTec Systems will also have an exhibition booth in hall D, booth 305.

The Do228 NXT is the next generation of the Dornier 228 series. The aircraft features a modernised cabin, cockpit upgrades, a resilient supply chain, next-level avionics systems, enhanced communications options and new special mission equipment and sensor options.

General Atomics AeroTec Systems said the aircraft is designed to meet current market demands across a range of operational scenarios. Its design, flight characteristics and equipment options support missions including maritime patrol and surveillance, disaster response, environmental monitoring, passenger transport and cargo transport.

ILA will be the start of the demonstrator’s wider international presentation. Over the next few years, the aircraft will be used by General Atomics AeroTec Systems for further flight testing and optimisation.

The aircraft will also primarily serve as a presentation and demonstration aircraft for customers and prospective buyers around the world. The company said it will be shown at numerous trade fairs and events globally.

One month after ILA, the Do228 NXT will make its international debut at the Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom from 20 to 24 July. It will also be displayed there in the static area.

General Atomics AeroTec Systems said the aim is to introduce the new aircraft and its capabilities to the global public. The company described the aircraft as a new version of the Do228 series designed for challenging missions.
