The German government has reinforced its commitment to aid Ukraine in resisting the ongoing Russian invasion by providing additional military support. On Friday, an updated list of military assistance revealed a significant supply of mine clearance equipment and reconnaissance systems delivered to Ukraine.
Over the past week, Ukraine received two WISENT 1 mine clearing tanks, supplementing the four tanks previously transferred. In addition, 11 mine ploughs designed for T-72 tanks were also delivered to enhance Ukraine’s capabilities in dealing with landmines and explosives.
Among the military aid package reported earlier in February, Ukraine was provided with five SurveilSPIRE mobile reconnaissance systems and three Vector reconnaissance drones, aimed at bolstering the country’s intelligence-gathering capabilities. Alongside these, five mobile antenna mast systems and nine vehicles dedicated to border protection were delivered to fortify Ukraine’s security along its frontiers.
In a collaborative effort with Denmark and Norway, the German government announced the transfer of two Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. This partnership emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in supporting Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.
Furthermore, Berlin has updated its list of planned assistance to further enhance Ukraine’s defence capabilities. The upcoming military aid package includes 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, six Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery and evacuation vehicles, and seven mobile, remote-controlled, and protected demining complexes. Additionally, five more mobile SurveilSPIRE reconnaissance systems and 18,000 portable anti-tank missile complexes are in the pipeline.
