HII wins five-year U.S. Army task order to advance precision airdrop, autonomous resupply and combat feeding for deployed forces

HII has secured a five-year U.S. Army task order to research new airdrop and combat feeding technologies for soldiers operating in remote and austere environments. The work will focus on sustaining mobility and supplies across a range of operational conditions.

The company’s Mission Technologies division will advance cargo and personnel airdrop systems for both precision-guided and conventional delivery. The technologies are intended for use across crewed and uncrewed aircraft.

HII will examine ways to improve the reliability, safety and interoperability of aerial delivery equipment. The program also covers sensors, autonomous capabilities and cybersecurity protections designed to address environmental and operational risks.

“Our troops’ safety and mission success depend on their ability to stay supplied and mobile even in the most difficult and austere environments,” said Todd Gentry, president of Mission Technologies’ All-Domain Operations group. “Driven by innovation, our team is uniting cutting-edge research, engineering, and an operator’s mindset to tackle these critical challenges, ensuring our forces are always ready wherever duty calls.”

The task order was placed through the Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract. The Defense Technical Information Center administers the contract on behalf of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center.

HII has nearly 60 active task orders under the IAC MAC program. The portfolio gives the company an established role in research supporting soldier sustainment and other defense technology requirements.

The Defense Technical Information Center-sponsored DoWIAC program provides research support and technical data management for U.S. defense and federal agencies. Established in 1946, it supports science, technology and acquisition organizations through the development and distribution of technical information.

A Defense Department memorandum issued in December 2024 described the DoWIAC program as a model for rapidly acquiring advanced research and development services. It encouraged requirements and contracting officials to use Information Analysis Centers for research, development and analysis work.
