Israel has signed an agreement with the Pentagon to buy 12 Boeing Apache Echo attack helicopters for the Israel Defense Forces. The aircraft are scheduled to arrive at the beginning of the next decade, the Ministry of Defense said.

The Israeli government approved the purchase on Wednesday, October 14. Ministry Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram instructed the ministry’s U.S. mission to sign the agreement following that approval.

Israeli and American officials jointly tailored the agreement to Israel’s requirements. The ministry described the Echo variant as the newest and most advanced Apache model.

The ministry’s U.S. mission and Budget Department led work on the agreement and its execution framework. The statement did not disclose a purchase price or specific delivery year.
