Strigo is a new family of modular defense technologies built around a common technical baseline. The portfolio includes radio-frequency sensors, missile datalinks and seeker technologies for missions ranging from air and missile defense to air-to-surface engagements.
Lockheed Martin established the dedicated product center less than two years ago. The center develops ready-now and near-ready solutions that can be adapted to different missions as customer requirements change.
The company is also funding research before formal military requirements are issued. Lockheed Martin said this approach allows hardware to be developed and produced earlier in response to changing threats.
Several concepts have already progressed from initial design through successful testing, according to the company. Technologies developed through the Strigo family have also informed aspects of the seeker package for the Precision Strike Missile Increment 2, or PrSM Increment 2.
“By putting proactive research and development at the forefront, the Strigo Product Center lets us test and deploy new solutions at unprecedented speed. That’s how we turn ‘what if’ into ‘what’s next’ faster than ever before,” said Stacy Kubicek, vice president and general manager, Lockheed Martin Sensors and Global Sustainment.
Lockheed Martin said common modular architectures can also reduce lifecycle costs and support long-term sustainment. The company positions Strigo as part of its effort to accelerate munitions development for the U.S. military and allied customers.
“Leveraging our deep expertise in advanced sensor and missile technologies, this long-term investment reshapes the way we develop and deliver next-generation, mission-ready capabilities, ensuring our warfighters have the solutions they need the moment threats evolve,” Kubicek said. Lockheed Martin plans further investment in RF sensors, missile seekers and datalinks for current munitions programs and future U.S. military capabilities.
