The company has significantly accelerated production, increasing missile output by 33% in 2024 compared to the previous year. By the end of 2025, MBDA expects to have doubled its production levels from 2023, ensuring that European armed forces receive the critical defence systems they require.
MBDA remains the only European defence manufacturer capable of delivering a full range of sovereign missile capabilities. This allows European nations to maintain operational superiority and strategic independence, reinforcing their ability to act autonomously in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment.
Recent deployments have demonstrated the effectiveness of MBDA’s systems in real-world operations. The ASTER missile system, used by French, UK, and Italian naval forces, has been successfully deployed in the Red Sea, while the VL MICA system will be used to enhance security at the Paris Olympics.
In response to rising global tensions, MBDA has expanded its strategic partnerships across Europe. Recent agreements with Poland and Sweden reflect a growing demand for European defence cooperation, while the company continues to support EU defence initiatives and NATO collaboration.
To sustain this growth, MBDA is investing €2.4 billion over the next five years (2025–2029) in research, production, and technological innovation. The company is also undergoing a major recruitment drive, having hired 2,500 employees in 2024 and targeting an additional 2,600 new hires in 2025.
Beyond addressing immediate production demands, MBDA is actively developing next-generation defence technologies. Key areas of innovation include deep-strike capabilities with the FC/ASW programme, hypersonic and counter-hypersonic systems under the AQUILA project, and AI-driven digital defence solutions through the newly launched NEODE Systems.
MBDA is also investing in mass-oriented solutions inspired by recent conflicts, such as drone swarms, laser weapons, and remotely controlled munitions. These advancements will ensure that European forces remain at the forefront of modern warfare and are prepared for future security challenges.
Financially, MBDA continues to strengthen its position, with total revenues reaching €4.9 billion in 2024. The company secured a record €13.8 billion in new orders, bringing its backlog to an all-time high of €37 billion, demonstrating sustained demand for its advanced defence solutions.
