MBDA will present a broad portfolio of sovereign defence solutions at Eurosatory 2026 as Europe and its allies accelerate rearmament. The company said the portfolio is intended to address armed forces’ needs in an increasingly uncertain and conflictual strategic environment.

The European complex weapons group said modern warfare is being shaped by ongoing conflicts and the widespread mass use of missiles and drones. MBDA said it is responding by combining high-performance systems with new effectors designed for mass, cost-efficiency and adaptability.

The company described this approach as “smart mass”. It said the new effectors are being designed and produced through a cooperation model that combines civil and military ecosystems.

At Eurosatory, MBDA will display solutions for deep precision strike, air defence and battlefield warfare. The company said these areas are central to modern warfare under a “sword and shield logic” approach.

In deep precision strike, MBDA will present systems ranging from the 150-kilometre THUNDART to the Naval Cruise Missile and its ground-based adaptation, the Land Cruise Missile, with ranges of more than 1,000 kilometres. For the first time, a complete Land Cruise Missile system integrating the new-generation NCM MK2 will be shown.

MBDA said the LCM and NCM MK2 will significantly improve system performance. It described the NCM and LCM as the only European, combat-proven sovereign deep precision strike solution rapidly available today.

The company will also present lower-cost strike capabilities intended for mass production. These include the ONE WAY EFFECTOR for saturation missions and CROSSBOW OWE HEAVY for penetration missions.

MBDA said OWE and CROSSBOW OWE HEAVY represent a step change in development speed. The company said they moved from design to demonstration firing in less than one year and were developed in response to customer requirements ahead of contracts.

MBDA and Safran Electronics & Defense will also present THUNDART as a complete system, including the munition and launcher, at Safran’s stand. The munition completed a first successful test firing on 14 April and targets a first operational capability by 2029 as a sovereign replacement for legacy Lance Roquettes Unitaires rocket artillery systems.

MBDA will also promote its remotely controlled ammunition range. This includes AKERON RCX50, developed with drone specialist Novadem in under two years of self-funded development, and AKERON RCH170, co-developed with Delair and KNDS France for medium-range loitering requirements.

The company said it remains the only European company offering the full spectrum of sovereign complex weapons solutions. MBDA said its air defence portfolio covers all layers, from counter-drone systems to high-end threats.

Its air defence solutions include SKY WARDEN, MISTRAL, FULGUR, VL MICA, CAMM, ASTER and the AQUILA family of missiles. MBDA said some systems, including MISTRAL 3, MICA and the ASTER-SAMP/T system, are already available and have proved their value on the battlefield.

The company said these capabilities are interoperable within NATO and have been procured by many customers. MBDA is also developing ASTER B1 NT for integration into the SAMP/T NG system.

The first SAMP/T NG systems will be delivered to the French and Italian air and space forces in 2026 for operational evaluation. MBDA said SAMP/T NG will add a multilayer capability and become a European system able to integrate various effectors in a full NATO operational anti-ballistic and tactical ballistic missile chain.

Looking further ahead, MBDA said the AQUILA interceptor is preparing the ground for future capabilities against complex hypersonic threats. The company said it stands ready for the next phase of that European project.

In the counter-drone field, MBDA said it continues to develop its SKY WARDEN system. The system is now proposed for the protection of critical civilian and strategic infrastructure and can be scaled from peacetime to wartime requirements.

The company said current conflict in the Middle East has underlined the need for solutions whose cost and complexity are matched to drone-type threats. MBDA said this reflects the need to consider attrition of complex ammunition stocks.

MBDA said it is working on new mass interceptor solutions against drones and saturation attacks. These efforts are being pursued through agile partnerships and European cooperation to respond rapidly to new threats.

To meet rising rearmament demand, MBDA said it is continuing to increase production capacity and investment. The group has committed 5 billion euros in investments over the 2026-2030 period, including more than 2 billion euros in France.

MBDA is marking its 25th anniversary this year. The company said it is reaffirming its commitment to European cooperation, including with Sweden, Poland, Denmark and other partners, and its role as a trusted partner for armed forces.
