Norway to donate IRIS-T anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced on Thursday during his visit to Kyiv that Norway will extend its support to Ukraine by sending anti-aircraft missiles and mine clearing equipment. The aid package also includes assistance in securing the war-torn country's gas and power supply.

The donation from Norway encompasses IRIS-T anti-aircraft missiles, as well as portable kits designed for the creation of safe passages through minefields. Additionally, crucial equipment used for repairing essential electricity infrastructure will be provided. The Norwegian government issued a statement outlining these contributions.

The statement stressed the vital role that air defence support has played in preventing Russia from gaining control of Ukrainian airspace. This support has effectively prevented significant civilian suffering and military losses, the statement emphasized.

Furthermore, the Norwegian donation includes IRIS-T missiles that are compatible with units donated by Sweden. The combined effort aims to bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities and strengthen its overall security.
