The programme brought together representatives of the state administration, Polish Armed Forces, military and scientific institutions, business partners and the media. Participants viewed weapons, ammunition, combat systems and unmanned technologies through static displays, live firing, controlled detonations and field trials.
A central focus was the ZSP Niewiadów industrial complex, which covers more than 100 hectares and continues more than a century of defence production at the site. The facility specialises in manufacturing, assembling and completing weapons, ammunition and other defence products and has extensive experience supplying the Polish Armed Forces.
Visitors were shown the Technical Equipment Park, where artillery systems, military vehicles and other equipment support ballistic testing and proving-ground trials. They also viewed production areas with capabilities including explosive filling, explosive pressing, ammunition assembly and the completion of a broad range of combat materiel.
The site currently includes seven specialist storage facilities for ammunition, combat materiel and explosives with a combined area of about 3,900 square metres. Expansion under way is intended to increase storage capacity to more than 500 tonnes of net explosive quantity, while some of the existing facilities include specialist climate-controlled chambers.
PGM Niewiadów also presented the construction site for a new large-calibre ammunition plant designed to fill and complete 155 mm artillery rounds and 120 mm tank and mortar ammunition. The group has secured PLN 250 million in financing for the investment, with three production lines ultimately planned to support annual output of up to 180,000 155 mm rounds.
The first production lines have already passed final technical acceptance, with production readiness scheduled by the end of 2026. The project is intended to expand the group’s domestic capacity for large-calibre ammunition manufacturing.
The second part of Range Day took place at Niewiadów’s research and development centre and private proving ground, where infrastructure supports development work, acceptance testing and trials under operationally representative conditions. Its 130-metre and 500-metre firing lanes can accommodate weapons up to 155 mm calibre, while specialist equipment can measure projectile muzzle velocity and chamber pressure and record the effects of tested munitions.
The combination of industrial infrastructure, research facilities and an in-house proving ground allows the group to manage the full product-development cycle from concept and prototyping through testing, integration and entry into production. During the event, ZSP Niewiadów also signed a cooperation agreement with Cracow University of Technology aimed at combining academic research and engineering expertise with the company’s production and testing capabilities.
The agreement is intended to shorten the route from laboratory work and concept development to trials, industrial implementation and production. The parties expect the cooperation to generate projects, technologies and practical implementations developed in Poland while also supporting the training of specialist personnel for domestic industry.
Dynamic demonstrations included live firing, controlled detonations and tests showing the effects of different systems against representative targets. Equipment presented included 120 mm RAK, 155 mm, 120 mm Leopard and ISA-73 gunfire simulators, 40 mm grenade launchers with marking ammunition, a 30 mm cannon, the RTG disposable thermobaric grenade launcher and the 81 mm GAk-81 aerosol grenade.
The programme also featured an unmanned ground vehicle carrying an effector, thermobaric, fragmentation and smoke grenades, pressure and fragmentation mines, a 60 mm combat round and the L-POMBS light portable mine-clearing system. The demonstrations concluded with a 155 mm ballistic-gun firing intended to show the proving ground’s ability to conduct live-fire testing of large-calibre ammunition.
Range Day Niewiadów 2026 served as a direct lead-in to the group’s participation in the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition, or MSPO, in Kielce from 8 to 11 September. PGM Niewiadów said it will present its capabilities at four locations, covering ammunition, weapons, combat materiel, armament for unmanned systems, Special Forces equipment and offensive systems for full-scale military platforms.
