QinetiQ US secures role in U.S. Army’s USD 4 billion contract for aerostat systems

By Defence Industry Europe

QinetiQ US has been named as an awardee on the U.S. Army's $4 billion Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) under the Product Director (PD) Aerostats programme. The 10-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract will support integration, procurement, engineering, logistics, operations, and programme management for PD Aerostats.

The MATOC covers support for the Persistent Surveillance System – Tethered (PSS-T), future Elevated Sensing requirements, and the Persistent Surveillance Dissemination System of Systems (PSDS2). QinetiQ US is the only prime contractor currently operating multi-site strategic and tactical aerostat sites supporting U.S. border and defence missions.

Drawing on extensive experience, QinetiQ US will deliver and sustain persistent surveillance systems both within the United States and abroad. The company’s solutions will support the U.S. and international partners by leveraging sensor integration and multi-domain detection technologies.

QinetiQ US is known for its capabilities in prime contract management and the integration of aerostat platforms with advanced sensing technologies. These include hyperspectral imaging systems and intelligent processing algorithms that convert sensor data into actionable intelligence.

“Our integrated sensor and aerostat solutions deliver effective and affordable multi-domain awareness solutions to meet the evolving threat in today’s defence and security environment,” said Jonathan Riksen, executive vice president and general manager of QinetiQ US’ National & Global Security Solutions. “By combining advanced sensor technologies with our persistent surveillance platforms, we provide decision makers with actionable intelligence that creates a decisive information advantage in evolving threat environments.”
