Quantum Systems has completed a two-week exercise coordinating unmanned air, land and maritime systems through its MOSAIC UXS software. Forward Edge 26 brought equipment from several manufacturers into four operational scenarios and demonstrated remote piloting of systems in Ukraine, the United States and Australia.

The company announced the exercise’s completion on 22 October after trials at a military training field in central Germany. The focus was on connecting reconnaissance, protection and mission execution within a shared operational architecture.

“Traditional military exercises often focus on traditional military hardware,” said Martin Karkour, chief revenue officer of Quantum Systems. “At Forward Edge 26, we demonstrated a different approach: An entirely unmanned exercise, software orchestrated through MOSAIC UXS.”

In the defensive scenario, surveillance systems detected simulated enemy reconnaissance and attack forces approaching a position. Counter-drone systems, strike assets and unmanned ground systems then engaged the threat.

A convoy-protection scenario used aerial reconnaissance to monitor a route ahead of unmanned vehicles. Quantum Systems said laser-based counter-drone assets protected the convoy against ground threats.

The sea and port protection scenario connected aerial and maritime systems for coastal surveillance, threat identification and a coordinated response. A separate minelaying and route-clearance scenario combined aerial overwatch, ground systems and effectors, drawing on examples from the company’s operations in Ukraine.

“Today Quantum Systems and its partners demonstrated the future of warfare: Silent, precise, lethal and orchestrated through software and AI,” said Sven Kruck, the company’s co-chief executive officer. “And the future is unmanned.”

Participating companies included Daimler Truck, Frontline Robotics, Ground A, Planet, Wolf Radar, Reactive Dynamics, Tencore, Volkswagen and XTEND. Quantum Systems’ German-Ukrainian joint ventures, Quantum Frontline Industries and Quantum Tencore Industries, also took part.

The exercise demonstrated how systems from different suppliers could operate together through MOSAIC UXS, according to Quantum Systems. The company said the findings would inform further development, integration and operational validation.
