Rheinmetall wants to build a production plant for KF 51 Panther in Ukraine

German defence industry giant Rheinmetall is negotiating with Kiev the construction of a tank production plant in Ukraine. This plant will be able to produce up to 400 KF 51 Panther main battle tanks a year, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger told the German newspaper “Rheinische Post”.

According to the Rheinmetall CEO, the cost of construction of the production plant for KF 51 Panther tanks in Ukraine is estimated at EUR 200 million.




“Talks with the government of Ukraine are promising”, said Armin Papperger.

He stressed that a decision on the possible investment could be made within the next two months.

 

 

As reported by Defence Industry Europe, German defence company Rheinmetall is in talks with the government of Ukraine on cooperation in the field of defence industry and possible deliveries to Ukraine of KF 51 Panther main battle tanks and KF 41 Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.
