Production of the first batch of UMTAS-GM anti-tank missiles is expected to be completed by the end of the year, said General Manager of Roketsan.
According to Ikinci, thanks to the successful development of UMTAS-GM missile Turkish defence industry will be able to meet the needs of the armed forces for anti-tank precision weapons.
UMTS-GM anti-tank guided missile has been designed as the main air-to-ground weapon system of the ATAK-2 attack helicopter and as a weapon carried by the vehicles of ant-tank units of the land forces.
According to Roketsan, UMTAS-GM can also be integrated into light attack aircraft, unnamed aerial vehicles and naval platforms.
The missile is equipped with Imaging Infrared Seeker, which allows for day and night use in all weather conditions, the company said.
“Its precision guidance and control capability, together with its tandem armour piercing warhead, make UMTAS an effective weapon against armoured targets”, says Roketsan, describing the missile on the company’s website.
The range of the UMTAS-GM is 0,5-8km.
