F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team conducts practice session [PHOTOS]

The U.S. Air Force’s F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team carried out an off-season practice session on 21 January 2025.

On September 14, the first four Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II multi-role aircraft arrived in Denmark. After their flight from the United States, the fighters landed at the Skrydstrup base of the Royal Danish Air Force.

F-35A Lightning IIs from the 134th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, Vermont Air National Guard, arrived at Kadena Air Base, Japan, on January 13, 2025, marking the latest in a series of U.S. Air Force fighter deployments to the Pacific. This deployment forms part of the U.S. Air Force's broader strategy to modernise its fleet by replacing the ageing F-15C/D aircraft, which have been in service for over 40 years.

Two new F-35A fighter jets arrived at Ørland Air Station on Friday afternoon, joining Norway’s expanding fleet. The aircraft landed at 15:30, with two more F-35s scheduled to arrive in the coming days from the Lockheed Martin production facility in the United States.

National Armaments Director Martin Sonderegger and the Swiss F-35A Program Manager Darko Savic signed the procurement contract on 19 September 2022 at armasuisse in Bern. With this, the procurement of 36 F-35A is contractually agreed. The aircraft will be delivered between 2027 and 2030 and will replace the current fleet of F/A-18 Hornets and F-5 Tigers.
