Over 75 targets were struck during the operation using a variety of U.S. Air Force assets, including B-52 bombers, F-15 fighter jets, and A-10 aircraft. The mission aims to prevent ISIS from conducting external operations and to counter any attempts by the group to regroup amidst the current situation in Syria.
Initial battle damage assessments indicate that the strikes achieved their objectives without causing civilian casualties. CENTCOM has emphasised its commitment to ensuring precision and minimising risks to non-combatants in its operations.
General Michael Erik Kurilla, the Commander of CENTCOM, underscored the importance of maintaining pressure on ISIS and its affiliates. “There should be no doubt—we will not allow ISIS to reconstitute and take advantage of the current situation in Syria,” he stated. He also warned that any organisations supporting or partnering with ISIS would be held accountable.
