U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces completed another round of strikes against Iran on July 8. CENTCOM said the operation was intended to further degrade Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.

The command said U.S. forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets along Iran’s coastline. The targets included air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities and military logistics infrastructure.

CENTCOM said the latest strikes followed offensive strikes carried out the previous night. On July 7, U.S. forces hit approximately 80 Iranian military targets, including more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats.

The July 7 strikes were carried out after Iran attacked three commercial vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz, according to CENTCOM. The command said the strikes were intended to impose heavy costs on Iran for violating the ceasefire.

CENTCOM said U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal and prepared to carry out operations directed by the Commander in Chief. The statement did not provide further details on damage assessments or casualties from the July 8 strikes.
