The inauguration forms part of a broader transformation of the CSAiU into a Rocket and Artillery Forces Training Centre. This restructuring, launched earlier this year, supports the technical modernisation of Poland’s rocket and artillery forces and prepares them for future operational challenges.
The modernised centre will focus on long-range systems, automated command and fire control, unmanned artillery platforms, and multi-sensor reconnaissance to support precision strike capabilities using unmanned search-and-strike systems, rocket launchers, cannons, and mortars. Numerous institutions, experts, and artillery professionals have contributed to the development of this strategic training infrastructure.
In the future, the academy aims to train instructors, innovators, and future leaders within Poland’s rocket and artillery forces. It also aspires to serve as a centre of expertise to support the continued development of artillery capabilities in the Polish Armed Forces.
This initiative complements Poland’s recent large-scale procurements of rocket artillery systems. In 2023, Poland signed a framework agreement to acquire 486 M142 HIMARS launchers, with the first 126 scheduled for delivery from 2025, supplementing the 20 launchers previously delivered under an earlier U.S. Foreign Military Sale.
Simultaneously, Poland is advancing its Homar-K programme based on the South Korean K239 Chunmoo system. A 2022 framework agreement for 218 launchers was followed by an April 2024 order for 72 more, and by mid-2025, 126 systems had been delivered, integrated on Polish Jelcz chassis with domestically developed Topaz fire control systems.
