Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026, followed by a phased technology transfer to German industrial partners FFG, JWT and KNDS, with whom Patria signed an industrial teaming agreement in early 2024. The first fully locally produced vehicles are expected in 2027, with full German production capacity established to support potential future Bundeswehr requirements.
Patria President and Chief Executive Officer Esa Rautalinko said the contracts marked a milestone for the company. “I am pleased to announce that these CAVS contracts with Germany on Patria 6×6 and Patria NEMO represent the largest single deal in Patria’s history, making also our 6×6 armoured vehicle the European standard,” he said, adding that Germany’s participation “underscores a modern approach to multinational defence cooperation” and supports the German Army’s aim to reach full combat readiness by 2029.
Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area, highlighted the company’s experience in industrial cooperation. “Patria has decades of experience of carrying out technology transfer to several countries in three different continents,” he said, adding, “Together with our local German industry team we are ready and able to provide Bundeswehr all desired armoured vehicles and to build local security of supply.”
Germany joined the CAVS programme in 2023 and has now moved into the full-scale supply phase, with German industrial solutions expected to benefit other programme members. The CAVS initiative, led by the Finnish Defence Forces, now includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom and Norway, with Patria 6×6 vehicles also in operational use in Ukraine.
Patria said it has received orders for nearly 2,000 Patria 6×6 vehicles and has delivered more than 250 units to date. The programme remains open to additional European countries with similar requirements, subject to the mutual consent of participating nations.
