AURA detected the target and passed real-time data to GÖKALP E1 through DRONEDEF. The interceptor then struck and destroyed the drone by direct impact, using a hit-to-kill method.
The GÖKALP system uses radar and electro-optical sensors to detect threats and is designed to neutralise hostile drones autonomously. ASELSAN said its vehicle-integrated design offers a mobile, cost-effective response to unmanned aircraft threats.
DRONEDEF provides the counter-drone layer within STEELDOME, Türkiye’s integrated, layered air defence architecture. It combines detection, command-and-control and countermeasures to coordinate responses to drones.
ASELSAN said the demonstration showed the system’s components operating together under realistic conditions. The engagement covered the sequence from radar detection to the target’s destruction.
