BAE Systems Bofors has completed its acquisition of Aston Harald Mekaniska Verkstad AB, a Swedish supplier of precision mechanics and advanced component machining. The purchase agreement was signed in February 2026 and has now been finalised.

Aston Harald supplies components for products in the defence and aerospace sectors, as well as the commercial market. The company is headquartered in Kristinehamn, Värmland, and employs about 100 people.

Aston Harald has been a strategic supplier to BAE Systems Bofors for many years. It has also supplied other major defence companies and commercial customers.

BAE Systems Bofors said the acquisition supports its strategy to strengthen production capacity and delivery capability in the European defence market. The company also said the transaction will improve supply security for deliveries linked to ARCHER, TRIDON Mk2, Combat Vehicle 9040, and the 40 Mk4 and 57 Mk3 naval guns.

Both BAE Systems Bofors and Aston Harald are part of the defence industrial cluster in the Karlskoga region. The companies share a common industrial history and a focus on delivering defence capabilities.

BAE Systems Bofors said the acquisition will enable closer and more efficient cooperation. The company added that the transaction creates improved conditions to secure deliveries to Sweden and partner nations.
