EPAWSS is an all-digital electronic warfare system designed to detect threats and support countermeasures across 360 degrees. BAE Systems said the system is intended to help F-15K crews conduct missions in hostile and signal-dense electromagnetic environments.
The company said EPAWSS will complement the F-15’s speed, range and payload. It said the system will enhance combat airpower and air superiority as part of the F-15K aircraft upgrade.
“We are working closely with Boeing, the ROKAF and regional industry teams to deliver the most technically advanced EW system for the F-15K aircraft upgrade,” said Phillip Casalegno, F-15 international program director at BAE Systems. “Our focus is on providing allies with EW capabilities needed to support regional stability and security.”
The F-15K upgrade is a foreign defense sales initiative with the Republic of Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration. The effort will modify the country’s 59-aircraft F-15K fleet.
BAE Systems said the upgrade will improve South Korea’s ability to respond to current and future threats. The company also said the work will help ensure interoperability with U.S. forces.
EPAWSS is already in full-rate production for new F-15EX Eagle II aircraft and for modifications of F-15E Eagle aircraft. BAE Systems said the system has been used in operational settings and is continuously improved through software and firmware updates.
The company said it is a provider of full-spectrum electronic warfare systems for advanced aircraft. Its EPAWSS systems are designed and manufactured at facilities in Nashua, New Hampshire, and Austin, Texas.
