The renewed agreement was officially signed in January during a ceremony in Ottobrunn, Germany. Since its inception over a decade ago, this collaboration has enhanced mission support systems for various Airbus platforms, including the A400M, A330 MRTT, Eurofighter, C-295, Tiger, and Eurodrone.
Carmenta’s geospatial solutions have played a key role in improving operational efficiency for both manned and unmanned aircraft. These technologies enable real-time mapping, navigation, and mission planning, contributing to enhanced situational awareness and decision-making capabilities.
Torbjörn Lönnqvist, CEO of Carmenta, expressed his enthusiasm for the continued partnership, stating: “We are delighted to extend our frame agreement with Airbus Defence and Space, ensuring the continued delivery of innovative geospatial capabilities for Airbus leading air platforms.” He highlighted that these solutions are vital for existing programmes and will also support future defence initiatives such as the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
A major focus of the partnership moving forward will be advancing Human-Machine Interface technologies and supporting autonomy in both manned and unmanned systems. By leveraging Carmenta’s expertise, Airbus aims to enhance the performance and adaptability of its air platforms for evolving operational challenges.
