Colombia confirms purchase of ATMOS howitzers from Elbit Systems

The Colombian Ministry of Defence has confirmed that it has ordered 18 ATMOS 6x6 self-propelled howitzers from Israeli defence company Elbit Systems.

The Israeli company has not confirmed a contract for the supply of ATMOS self-propelled howitzers to Colombia. However, on April 18 Elbit Systems announced it was awarded a contract worth approximately USD 102 million to supply ATMOS artillery systems to an “international customer”.



According to Elbit Systems, all 18 ATMOS self-propelled howitzers will be delivered to the customer over a period of eight years.

 

 

The ATMOS modular artillery system is a combat proven wheeled howitzer solution, capable of  firing all NATO-certified 155mm projectiles that has an effective range of over 40km with standard projectiles and offers extended range with Rocket-Assisted Projectiles (RAP). The ATMOS is designed for rapid deployment and operation enabling provision of fire support for a broad range of missions.
