During the meeting, Deputy Minister Klymenkov emphasized the importance of such collaborations for Ukraine’s defence modernization efforts. “Ukraine continues to actively work on modernizing its defence capabilities and expanding international cooperation. Transitioning to direct contracts with arms manufacturers will reduce dependence on intermediaries and enhance our defence capabilities,” he stated. Klymenkov also expressed his gratitude towards Australia, acknowledging the solidarity and support provided by the Australian people during these challenging times.
EOS Defence Systems specializes in integrating weapon systems into various land and sea platforms, offering advanced solutions for countering unmanned aerial vehicles and ground targets. One of their flagship products, the Slinger anti-drone combat module, is already in use to protect IRIS-T air defence systems in Ukraine. The German government has also purchased this system, underscoring its reliability and effectiveness.
The discussion on potentially localizing production in Ukraine marks a significant step in the ongoing defence cooperation between the two nations. This initiative, if realized, is expected to streamline the supply of advanced defence technologies to Ukraine, reducing the country’s reliance on intermediaries and fostering a more direct and efficient procurement process.
In April 2023, EOS secured two substantial contracts to supply up to 150 Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) to Ukraine, valued at a combined total of up to US$121 million. These contracts include ammunition, spares, and related services, with deliveries scheduled for 2023 and 2024. Andreas Schwer, CEO of EOS, expressed pride in supporting Ukraine, stating, “EOS is proud to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the people of Ukraine by providing the country with the lifesaving utility of its Remote Weapon System. This will contribute to its critical security and defence needs.”
The EOS RWS product portfolio is renowned for its high firepower, low weight, and superior accuracy and reliability compared to competitor systems. With over 2,500 units sold and deployed across military services in Australia, North America, Europe, and South-East Asia, EOS’s systems have a proven track record in enhancing military capabilities.
