FNSS has been awarded a contract for the capability enhancement and life extension program of the Advanced Armoured Personnel Carriers (AAPC) currently in service with the Turkish Land Forces. The contract aims to equip a number of AAPCs with modern subsystems while retaining their amphibious capabilities. The upgraded vehicles will be ACV-15 configurations, originally delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces by FNSS in the early 2000s. The program's objective is to enhance the vehicles' performance, capabilities, and life cycle for an additional 20+ years.

In response to emerging threats and advancements in mission equipment and weapon systems, the AAPCs will undergo selective upgrades. FNSS will focus on improving mobility, protection levels, life support, electronic systems, situational awareness, and firepower, the FNSS said in a press release.

The upgrade package includes a dual gun remote-controlled weapon system with a close-range surveillance system, auxiliary power unit, A/C system, automatic fire suppression system, spall liners, driver vision system, navigation system, and integration of the gunshot detection system. The contract also includes a comprehensive overhaul of the vehicles, including the engine and transmission. These enhancements will significantly increase the vehicles’ reliability, durability, and mission capabilities while reducing maintenance requirements during operational deployments.
