The GRIZZLY LAV SPH is based on a Canadian-designed and manufactured Light Armoured Vehicle. The company said the platform brings the proven elements of the LAV family, including mobility, protection, and commonality for operators and maintainers.
The system was developed in partnership with Germany’s KNDS. It combines the LAV platform with a highly automated, uncrewed artillery system based on the combat-proven KNDS 155mm Artillery Gun Module.
General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada said the artillery module is capable of fire-on-the-move operations. The company presented the system as a combination of Canadian armoured vehicle experience and European artillery technology.
The company said sovereign defense capability matters to Canada’s economy, industrial base and soldiers who rely on such vehicles. It also emphasized the role of Canadian suppliers in supporting domestic defense capability.
The GRIZZLY LAV SPH reflects General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada’s focus on Canadian-built systems for national and allied requirements. The company’s presentation at CANSEC highlighted the platform’s role as a potential self-propelled artillery solution built around an established Canadian LAV design.
